Client Support team

Lesley joined Hummingbird in 2024 as one of the Client support team with an emphasis on providing a friendly face and a safe welcoming space for people chat and share what’s going on in their lives.  In 2019 she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, an aggressive blood cancer requiring immediate hospitalisation and months of in-patient treatment, including a stem cell transplant which itself resulted in a long recovery, further complicated and delayed by COVID!    The standout moments during her time of treatment and recovery were those when she was treated just as Lesley, the whole person and not just the patient.  It’s why she now volunteers with Hummingbird.  She draws on all these experiences to connect with our clients in a positive and empathetic way, to have fun, laugh or cry, in the hope of providing them with lots of those moments too.
