Volunteering at Hummingbird
April, May, and June are important months of year where we recognise volunteers.
Volunteer Recognition Day is the 20th of April, Thankyou Day is the 5th of June and Volunteer Week is the 1st to the 7th of June.
We couldn’t run our support group without the loyalty and dedication of our wonderful volunteers. We have recently taken some time to find out more about our volunteers. We have photographed them all for our new charity website (coming soon) and to recruit for some new volunteers.
Hummingbird Cancer Support Group is run 100% by volunteers. The committee is made up of a Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, and a Team Support/ Fundraising coordinator. We have an administration team who welcome members to our sessions, process donations, book appointments, serve refreshments and sell merchandise. Finally, we have our therapists who are fully qualified self-employed holistic therapists offering beauty treatments, massage, reiki, and reflexology.
There are so many benefits to volunteering. It can be a good place to meet new people and make friends, give something back to the local community and to help and support people with cancer. It can help give you a sense of purpose and you can apply for rewards through a volunteer credit scheme.
We are currently recruiting for massage therapists so if you are interested in doing some volunteering, please email us at email@example.com or contact us on 07510178200. Hummingbird Cancer Support Group operates alternate Mondays at Southmill Arts Centre, Bishops Stortford. The sessions run 10:30 – 1:30.
